LOADING HYUNDAI CRANES FOR CHARLESTON

Project Summary

In July 2000, the DOCK EXPRESS 10 loaded two 4-th generation container cranes at Hyundai Heavy Industries in Ulsan, Korea for delivery to the Wondo Container Terminal in Charleston, South Carolina. Because of the Cooper River bridge passage with its 154 ft height restriction, these cranes were transported only partly erect, with their fully assembled top sections temporarily secured low between the legs at different levels to enable stowing both cranes on one vessel. Argonautics Marine Engineering, Inc. was hired to supervise the loading of the cranes. After seafastening and final inspection, the vessel departed Korea and arrived less than 6 weeks later in Charleston.

Scope of Work
